New Palestine Intermediate School recently issued the following announcement.
Fifth and sixth-grade students of the Go-Green Club at New Palestine Intermediate have designed, created, and built a beautiful garden inside the school library. This project began a year ago with the laying of 8 tons of gravel and working with the Hancock County Master Gardeners to design a Chinese garden and a Mexican garden.
Students used recycled materials to create seating inside the garden and added artwork for students to enjoy. Two aeroponic tower gardens allow students to grow plants year-round. All of the materials, plants, and construction materials were donated by community businesses. New Palestine High School's construction class built the sturdy table and bridge for NPI students to enjoy.

Students are looking forward to extending the garden on the outside of NPI, and are imagining a butterfly garden, community garden, and a bee sanctuary. Donations may be made to NPI Go Green Club. Any business/family that donates $100 or more will have their name engraved on a gold leaf and added to the Donation Tree on the wall of the garden library.
