Program Description
Learn everything required to obtain the FCC Amateur Radio Technician License in this 6-week course taught by David Keiser of the Hancock Amateur Radio Club. Anyone who holds this license could participate in the County Emergency Communication Services at the EMA, provide Storm Spotting data for our county to the National Weather Service via our Skywarn Nets, and receive a host of other privileges that are listed here: https://w9atg.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Why-Get-Licensed.pdf
This course is designed for anyone who has no previous knowledge of radio communications or electronics but wishes to get licensed. The training will include 6 sessions (2 hours/week) of free classroom training and discussion that is focused more on explanation of concepts rather than just memorization to pass an exam. At the end of the course the FCC Amateur Radio Technician exam will be given on site and licenses are usually issued within a week.
David Keiser is a retired electrical engineer and volunteer with Hancock Homeland Security with the Emergency Communication Group. David leads a team of certified examiners who conduct FCC exams in Hancock County.
