Public Notice to Bidders of Sale of Land

City of Shelbyville recently issued the following announcement.

PUBLIC NOTICE TO BIDDERS REGARDING SALE OF PROPERTY BY THE CITY OF SHELBYVILLE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY

At the December 6, 2021 meeting of the City of Shelbyville Board of Public Works and Safety (“the Board”), the Board determined it was appropriate to sell three portions of real estate owned by the City of Shelbyville at no less than the stated offering price: 

  1. Lot four (4) on the South side of Hendricks Street in Samuel Hamilton’s Southern Addition to the City of Shelbyville. More commonly known as 111 E. Hendricks Street, Shelbyville, Indiana 46176. Tax Parcel No. 73-11-05-100-341.000-002; $9,100.00
  2. Common Area of Hamilton Major Place Subdivision, as per the plat thereof recorded as Instrument No. 2019006426 in the Office of the Recorder of Shelby County, Indiana, 125 W. Washington St. Shelbyville, In; Tax Parcel No. 73-07-31-400-412.000-002; $10,000. 
  3. A portion of formerly Railroad right of way on adjacent to Jefferson Ave between 2nd and 3rd Street on the East side of Jefferson in Shelbyville, Indiana Tax Parcel No. 73-11-05-300-438.000-002; $7,000 an acre. 
Bids shall be submitted on the Bid Form to the Clerk Treasurers office located at 44 W. Washington St.  Shelbyville, Indiana 46176 no later than 4:00 p.m. on January 7, 2022.  Bid Forms are available in the Clerk Treasurer’s Office or on the City’s Website at www.cityofshelbyvillein.com. All bids will be open to public inspection upon receipt.  Bidders will be notified of all subsequent bids via electronic means and given an opportunity to increase their bid.  Successful bidders will be notified no later than 5:00 p.m. on January 11, 2021, subject to the City’s ability to reject all bids for one or more lots.  Successful bidders will be announced within 7 days of the conclusion of bidding. If only abutting landowners submit a bid the property will be sold in accordance with Ind. Code §36-1-11-5(g). 

The Property may not be sold to a person who is ineligible under Indiana Code § 36-1-11-16, and an offer to purchase the Property which is submitted by a trust as defined in Indiana Code § 30-4-1-1(a) must identify each beneficiary of the trust and the settler empowered to revoke or modify the trust.

The Property will be transferred “as is”, “where is” and “with all faults”.  The City of Shelbyville makes not representation or warranty as to the physical condition or value of the Property.

The City of Shelbyville reserves the right to reject all bids for one or more lots.
